For those of you who have been watching the Rio 2016 Olympics you may have noticed some sparkle on your television screen. Well, don’t adjust your TV set just yet because the US women’s gymnastics team are covered in 5,000 Swarovski Crystals each.
With the Olympic uniforms become flasher than ever we can’t wait to see what the next Olympic uniforms bring.
The Times reports that the leotard of gold medal winner Nastia Liukin at the 2008 Beijing Olympics had 184 crystals. Fast forward 4 years later, Gabby Douglas won gold in London with her uniform adorned with 1,188 Swarovski Crystals.
Swarovski has seen a rise in the sports wear industry using their crystals and have designed a light weight flat back to ensure the crystals don’t add an additional weight to the athlete. This new item is called 2034 Swarovski Concise Flat Back, available in Hot Fix and No Hot Fix.
